DON'T DEFEND CYCLONE AID LOOTERS Zanu(PF) must stop defending it's members who are being implicated in looting aid meant for cyclone Idai victims. Instead , they must help authorities to expose the criminals .

Defending them can only mean that the looters committed these crimes with the permission of their party leaders who are probably also benefiting from the loot . We commend the Zimbabwe national army, for chasing away the party youths from the distribution points .

That is how the army must operate. Always on the side of the people. We are heartened by this progressive action by the ZNA.

Why was there confusion during the bi-elections in Ward 28, Bulawayo and yet the party has a panel of candidates approved by the National council . Those responsible for the confusion must carry their cross .

The revelations by Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri regarding the pathetic state of affairs in the upkeep of our Defence Forces make sad reading and very worrying indeed. The MDC-T sympathises with the difficult operating conditions our forces are subjected to.

The Party is equally concerned that such information comes at a time when the Region is threatened with instability emanating from banditry activities currently taking place in Mozambique.

It is for this reason that we urge for caution when it comes to issues to deal with matters of the security of our country and the people of this country.

We appreciate the need for transparency in a democracy, but also we are cognizant that transparency is not the same as nakedness. We are however urging the Government to take the report seriously.

The economy will not be able to sustain the requirements of our forces due to other competing obligations. We urge the Government to start thinking of right-sizing our forces, so that we have a Regular Force which is well trained, well paid, adequately equipped.

The remainder of the manpower would be posted to the Reserve Force. The Army moves on its stomach. There must never be a situation where troops survive on rations below the prescribed scale.
