People move for a variety of reasons: to seek a better life, to reunite with family, to find safety. Irrespective of the reason, migrants contribute to their communities in many ways, driving cultural exchange and spurring economic growth and innovation. #EveryStep

As the new year nears, the crisis in #Gaza has reached an unbearable breaking point. Innocent lives, including infants, are lost to winter cold. Hospitals and shelters are targeted. Member States must act now to prevent further devastation and restore hope for peace in 2025.

In times of conflict, access to basic services such as shelter, healthcare, water and food is essential to saving lives. IOM works with partners to deliver aid to vulnerable communities during times of crisis helping them rebuild and return home when it is safe to do so.

In #Gaza, people are desperate for the ceasefire to hold & a place to be safe. Many have lost everything, yet cling to hope. They need shelter, safety, dignity & control over their future. Thank you Becky Anderson for giving me the opportunity to share what I witnessed on the ground.

Working together with 🇨🇾 for dignified first reception conditions for migrants and asylum seekers. A Grant Agreement with European Funds Directorate - Ministry of Interior was signed to seal this collaboration towards the enhancement of the Reception System in Cyprus. Gianluca Rocco and Berta Fernández-Alfaro met with representatives of SEM to exchange on EU cooperation on Schengen, Dublin, Borders and the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. The discussion centered on Switzerland’s migration governance with a view to increasing synergies.
