Congratulations to GSNZ student member and University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau PhD student @MichaelaJDobson on being selected for an NASA JPL NZ internship! Michaela’s research looks at some of the oldest evidence of fossilised life on Earth, and how this can help us search for life on other planets.

I attended a morning tea celebration of the life and work of molluscan paleontologist extraordinaire Alan Beu, held at GNS Science Te Pū Ao today. It was a real pleasure and a special time. Many of Alan's colleagues, and also family shared their best memories of an amazing man.

A new report commissioned by PCE and researched by @NIWA was launched today at the GSNZ annual conference. It reveals that up to 2240 million tonnes of organic carbon are stored in marine sediments in NZ’s EEZ. Learn more: arcg.is/01OaG8
