Some of the creations at our GSNZ Geobake morning tea at Massey University today for James Hector's birthday. We have trilobite moon cakes, a mineral breccia fudge, and a lake sediment core, complete with tephra!

Congratulations to GSNZ student member and University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau PhD student @MichaelaJDobson on being selected for an NASA JPL NZ internship! Michaela’s research looks at some of the oldest evidence of fossilised life on Earth, and how this can help us search for life on other planets.

I attended a morning tea celebration of the life and work of molluscan paleontologist extraordinaire Alan Beu, held at GNS Science Te Pū Ao today. It was a real pleasure and a special time. Many of Alan's colleagues, and also family shared their best memories of an amazing man.
