Pls Rt: Today, Onigaming planned to meet with Sr Officials from Patty Hajdu Indigenous Services Canada regarding the numerous young deaths in our families & our desperate request for a Youth Crisis Centre. They sent junior note-takers to the meeting. Canada does not care. 💔

Orange Shirt Day September 30th always hits hard, but even harder since early 2020 when I became a foster parent for Indigenous children. Since then I have had five beautiful kids come through my home and this is what I can tell you … 🧵 /1

Moon of the Turning Leaves is officially out in the world today! Big thanks to readers of the first book who encouraged me to write a sequel, to Denise Bukowski for advocating for the story, to @FAMeier for his brilliant editing expertise, and to Random House Canada for giving it a home!

When I was a kid, the only Indigenous oriented books in the school library were ABOUT us, not by us. But in the last month alone I've read amazing new books by Waubgeshig Rice and Alicia Elliott - AND THEN SHE FELL out now! while not seeing as many non-Native books ABOUT us. Wonder what the next 50 years will bring.
