Ronnie Colvin, MS, CFP® Cotton: 'Do you hate America?'
Me: 'No, I'm quite fond of Montreal.'
Cotton: 'The UNITED STATES of America?'
Me: 'Define 'hate'?'
Cotton: 'Do you think the USA was a good idea?'
Me: 'It's better than the Confederacy your ancestors fought for, is that the question?'
Nick Covington This is why we can’t have nice things. A licensed professional educator should be capable of discerning the difference between instruction and the illiberal advocacy for explicit systematic instruction.
Chris Lehmann Mme Lockhart Once again, there’s nothing worse than bad progressive education.
Mme Lockhart Mrs Saunders I’m sure you’d love debating different definition of practice as well. Most of the things practiced in school share little with the process of practicing something complex, beautiful, or meaningful. Classroom “skill” practice shares very little with what an expert does to grow.
Chris Lehmann Mme Lockhart Conflating this stunt with the motives and belief structure of those advocating for explicit instruction is disingenuous at best. Instruction should be on tap, not on top. If your goal is learning what a random word means, telling is fine and likely forgotten after the test.
