Well done to everyone involved in getting the Lincolnshire Devo deal over the line. May not immediately be as good as the previous deal offered, but in the fullness of time will be the best chance of making sure the historic county isn’t left behind

Congratulations to Morgan McSweeney on taking over as Chief of Staff in 10. Well deserved role for someone as switched on as he is. And to be fair Sue Gray was Michael Gove Perm Sec (one of two at the time) and she led on our work on the Union.

Thank you to all of those kind (but misguided) people who have suggested that I should seek the Conservative nomination to run for the new Lincolnshire Mayor. I have previously publicly ruled myself out of the internal competition and that is still the situation this time.

Went to see David Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall last night. Bloody brilliant, best gig I’ve seen in years. Didn’t take photos, so can’t share. The pictures in my head are better than anything I could have taken with a camera.I could use a 1000 words to paint one, but not on twitter

Thanks Jackie and i know it will be a real honour for whoever ends up being elected as the first Mayor of a newly reunited Historic County of Lincolnshire and it will be a real opportunity for someone to help us punch at the weight we deserve as a county.

Just reflecting on a couple of brilliant days County Councils Network conference. It was my good friend Tim Olivers last as Chairman and I think his team pulled out all of the stops to make sure it was his best one, including having the brilliant Rory Bremner 💙🇺🇦 put a smile on everyones face

Given that this year is the end of Tim Olivers time as Chairman of County Councils Network and having been to their fantastic conference this week, i hope that when he has more time to give someone puts him in the House of Lords, we can’t afford to lose him from national public service

To all of my LG friends in whatever type of Council, yesterdays white paper launch says size definitely does matter!! Looks like only 11 councils in the whole country will escape being part of the LGR conversation based on their size alone.

Sorry, to all of those brilliant Blue Team councillors who have lost their seats through no fault of their own. All of us in Westminster, could have and should have done more to give you a better chance in these elections.

Can all adults in south Holland keep an eye out for a man in a white van hanging about anywhere where children are. Someone tried to abduct a child yesterday from one of our primary schools,police are aware.

Some days its really hard to be a Conservative politician, but usually no matter how depressing it gets you can search deep and find something to make you look to the future with at least a little hope in your heart, i dont think there’s enough time left today to dig that deep.

If Conservative Party doesn’t sort out its offer to the Britain some time soon, it’s destined to join others that have disappeared from our political landscape. Thursdays LG by-elections saw the Blue team lose to LibDems in a couple of seats, and to Reform by giving free rides.

This is more than place making and regen, its about creating communities where everyone can achieve the best that they can be. Decent, safe, secure, affordable homes regardless of tenure. Jobs on the doorstep. Energy security. And all better, faster, cheaper.

Why should ex get better, especially when a number of them are the reason a lot of their colleagues became ex. Jonathan is right on the principle of this, greater scrutiny of anyone who wants to join the list is essential for the party having any sense of a future.

On the basis that they cant do train tracks well, who in their right mind thinks they have the skills needed to be a multi site developer. Make them transfer the land holdings to the LAs where it is and hope they bring forward the homes that we need.
