"IBAS were unable to investigate 653 complaints in 2019/20 regarding social responsibility. We understand 100s who approached IBAS informally also turned away and signposted to Gambling Commission, despite the fact that they don't investigate." Ombudsman Association. Mar '21

IBAS should be no where near being a safer gambling ombudsman. They are not independent, have turned away 1000s of consumers wrongly directed to them for ADR for social responsibility failings. Complicit in complaints cycle of unaccountability. Concerning to see OmbudsmanAssociation there

Interesting to see Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS) acknowledge over 3,700 cases of likely social responsibility failings where neither they or Gambling Commission could help individuals. Majority of cases £5,000+ Legacy of #gambling harm can't be ignored by new Ombudsman. *Source - Written evidence to Department for Culture, Media and Sport

How many of the MPs in this 🧵that have received paid BGC hospitality at events, are going to ask a question in Parliament around gambling affordability?

Gambling Insight (@gamblinginsight) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why would financial checks increase problem gambling Matt? The very reason that all this affordability mess has come along is the ridiculous implementation of these. Self regulating doesn't work.

You You Your *What a strange use of "your gambling" Why not just "Don't let gambling get in the way" Industry can't resist pinning messaging onto individual.

Very interesting given the bonuses and VIP treatment given. Contract law taken into account. "SectionĀ 33 has been applied in cases where one party was at a disadvantage due to mental or psychological weakness, old age, illness, and the counterparty exploited this vulnerability."

An small update on the Gambling Ombudsman from MP questions. Seems Ombudsman Association heavily involved. It was meant to be running by the summer.

A 'regulated' UK Gambling industry where operators just do what they want. The abuse of terms of conditions needs greater scrutiny surely. x.com/Betgolfworld/s…

What a completely flawed system for the consumer. Denied any redress for failures! "In Commission enforcement cases regulatory settlement funds are directed towardsĀ socially responsible causes. When the Commission imposes a fine the money goes to HM Treasury."

ā€œThe IBAS Board, free from gambling operator influence" šŸ¤” IBAS is not independent. Should not be the gambling ombudsman. Consumers have been wrongly signposted to them for years in social responsibility disputes. gamblinginsider.com/news/25051/iba…

When did the Gambling Commission start investigating individual bets and/or complaints? They won't do this for other consumers. #GeneralElection #MPs bbc.com/news/articles/…
