A quick one; Pseudoephedrine, a common ingredient in cold medications such as Flu-Gone & Panadol Cold & Flu should be avoided in the first trimester of pregnancy. The drug has been associated with gastroschisis-defect whereby the baby's intestines extend outside of the abdomen.

In March 2020, the FDA issued a black box warning for Montelukast; there was increasing evidence of serious neuro-psychiatric side effects such as Depression and Aggressive behaviour ( It may affect 1 in 100 people). Always consult your Pharmacist on any drug-related issue.

The WHO recently rolled out the guidelines on injectable Lenacapavir~the twice-yearly HIV prevention drug. Kenya has been selected as one of the nine early adopter countries for its' implementation. While a vaccine for HIV remains elusive, Lenacapavir is the next best thing.
