The right to a jury trial in the most fundamental criminal cases is a guarantee of equal justice for every one of us. If a government cuts that right instead of funding the system, it isn’t reform it’s endangering the freedom of us all.

Trial by jury is a cornerstone of our democracy and an essential safeguard against authoritarianism. It is truly frightening that such a fundamental freedom is now under attack. Once rights are lost, they are not easy to win back. We must resist this with all we’ve got.

If you care about democracy and the rule of law, fight the abolition of most jury trials with everything you have got.
