Uhhh! I want this for my house. I don't want to give anything except self-hosted services access to my home automation VLAN, so any kind of cloud AI services are out of scope. Being able to self-host and customize my own self-hosted agent gives me Star-Trek-Computer vibes 🤓

Hello.. is this thing still on? It's 2023, so here's a fun new blogpost on how we used Intel's x86 CPU JTAG to dump the infamous "secret bootrom" in Microsoft's original Xbox: blog.ret2.io/2023/08/09/jta…

There will be a cooled 20l keg of Kölsch available for everyone at the Aachen an der Saar Village. Sponsored by CCC Köln (@[email protected]) Obviously, because Kölsch. 🍻 If you want some, come by and preferably bring your own cup, because we only have a limited amount. #cccamp23

I reverse engineered enough of the #raspberrypi5 RP1 to get my own code running on the RP1 I/O controller. It doesn't do much yet, but it makes an LED blink. Please, Raspberry Pi foundation, release more documentation 🥺👉👈 github.com/G33KatWork/RP1…

A great example again of why trying to obscure or prevent reverse engineering of hardware is a very futile endeavour. Various people figured out within 2 days what those ICs are (ICE40 and ESP32-S2F) just from various smartphone photos without holding hardware in their hand...

I spent some time writing a blog post on how I fixed a broken BMC that forgot how to ethernet on one of my Xeon Phi nodes. It was quite a ride and I tried to capture my train of thought so others might benefit from how I approach such things. geekatwork.de/2024/repairing…
