We need to clarify something about theme. Theme isn't a moral. It's THE question your story can't stop asking. It's a wound every character shares. It's the gravity well that warps reality around itself. It's what your story's really about, but it's rarely asked outright.

Another way to think about theme: Theme isn't a message you deliver. It IS the underlying foundation of every character choice. It's an echo between plot (what happens) and subtext (why). The itch that scratches at your characters (who are your & your audience's proxies).

Doing rewrites & it got me thinking: Slow character setup isn't wasted time, but you HAVE to be strategic. ✔️Planting tension before plot ignites ✔️Letting flaws reveal stakes ✔️Building audience trust in the world But how do you pace depth without killing momentum?

Is writing therapy for people who can't afford therapy? You spend hours untangling your own mess, disguised as character arcs. Each time you write is another session. Breakthroughs look like plot twists and character revelations. The page listens without billing you $200/hr...

There's something in the zeitgeist. Bring Her Back. Weapons. Adults treating children like accessories or objects to be manipulated. To steal their youth, or to manufacture an end the adult desires, to the child's detriment. Happens far more than people realize.
