Whole genome sequencing providing answers in sudden death cases. It motivates me as a scientist to continue to discover protein pathways. As a bereaved mum, I know the trauma. It’s important to witness, to never forget, to live for those we lost. #Alexander πŸ’™

Today we opened the wonderful play ship for the HanburyCofEFirst children in Leo’s memory. πŸ’š All made possible by resources, work and enthusiasm of our friends, community and the school. 😍 We are grateful Leo’s ship will bring years of fun to the kids. πŸ™

Very interesting article on gender equality in academia! I wonder what shape the scissor takes on at Director, Head of Department etc level?

Congratulations to Sarah E Ewald, PhD and team for putting a new post-translational modification - nitration driven by iNOS - at the heart of the vacuole-targeted killing mechanism of #Toxoplasma. Huge news!! >25 years after the discovery that iNOS is somehow important! πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜

Important read for all of us studying cell-autonomous defences to pathogens. The guns (here lysosomes) each cell type has will be different AND (!) be loaded differently (aka differ in function and response) within a cell type. Yep, diversity in biology at its best! πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…πŸ˜Ž

Awesome work @DanielHFisch and Jonathan Kagan and team! This elegantly demonstrates the power of studying the endogenous proteins in real time in their native environment! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ Loving the innate immune cell biology, the best! 😍

After we lost Leo, Dr Emily Cooper was our first lifeline. Her son Alexander and Leo were close in age when they died. We mourn the loss of her daughter Isabelle by the same genetic condition as Alexander. Consider helping her family to gain some breathing room. πŸ™

Tune in to #inflammazoom! If you’re in the UK and just reading morning Twitter in bed, you still got time to fry some eggs! If you’re in Melbourne, maybe grab a beer, it’s hot!

V for voyage. As Christmas comes and the New Year, I remember that we’re all on a voyage. My eyes are wide open now to every day of the voyage. Every day counts - we learn, we work, we live, we connect to others, but most importantly we don’t postpone. #lifeafterloss
