I’m so humbled to receive this prestigious award and recognition by @CancerNSW. Imposter syndrome is real. Thank you so much to my mentors and colleagues who are the real reason I’ve succeeded in my research career (@Rayychan Rob Newton Aaron Coutts). UTS Health UTS

The Times Higher Education ranking is based in part on the completely invalid measurements collected from an unrepresentative sample as the questions below. Institutions should completely ignore it. We do not accept crap research into journals, we should not accept it in policy.

Yesterday was quite possibly the highlight of my entire academic career! For almost 30 years I’ve had the privilege of conducting and leading research focused on amplifying and accelerating the development of women’s sport;

🚨Very proud of this paper for three reasons: 1. lots of early career researchers as co-authors 2. this tool is designed to be used in practice to benefit female athletes 3. it pulls together over 20 years of experience in one resource! ➕ its OPEN ACCESS! bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/10/4/e…

Let’s not pretend that adjusting training programmes to accommodate negative (physiological or psychological) symptoms is a new concept. Adding ‘menstrual cycle’ into this sentence ⬆️ makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE to the point! This is training 101 and coaching 101.

Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to put pressure on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research

Harvard scientists are leaving academia for the private sector to fast-track biomedical breakthroughs. Michael Mina (eMed), Douglas Melton (Vertex), Stuart Schreiber (Arena Bioworks) cite funding delays & admin hurdles as key reasons. #BiomedicalResearch harvardmagazine.com/2025/01/harvar…

I’d like to be clear; I didn’t contribute to this article & my work has been misrepresented. Genuinely sad to see the same myths doing the rounds again. I’m happy to speak with any journalist who’d like to accurately represent the science & women’s sport theguardian.com/football/2025/…

How effective is rating of perceived effort (RPE) for prescribing intensity in small-sided soccer games (SSGs)? Our recent randomized crossover trial explored this in youth players. 🧵1/6 Open access: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

This study is of better methodological quality than previous ones and includes data on 5,200 runners (it is the largest study so far and a casual inference approach was used). It showed that the higher the ACWR, the lower the injury risk. Oops! bjsm.bmj.com/content/early/…

In our latest work, we demonstrate that risk estimates for patients are HUGELY uncertain due to model uncertainty, data uncertainty, and population uncertainty. Even when based on large sample sizes. Laure Wynants @laurewynants.bsky.social Ewout Steyerberg arxiv.org/abs/2506.17141
