EMBL-EBI Like all Noble Prizes, selecting 3 people - even just in the big teams around them - seems a bit weird - let alone the key people stretching back - John Moult and the CASP team; Chris Sander and AlfonsoValencia alfonsovalencia.bsky.social on evolutionary signals/co-evolution in the 1990s

Bringing Microbiology literacy to the fringes of Society. This time, divulgative talk on *bacteria as both friends and foes* to the inmates of Soto del Real (Madrid) prison. Great initiative of Spanish NGO Solidarios and CSIC, supported by a bunch of enthusiastic volunteers.

More languages, more insights! A few interesting takeaways: * Java and Kotlin are quick! Possible explanation: Google is heavily invested in performance here. * Js is really fast as far as interpreted / jit languages go. * Python is quite slow without things like PyPy.

Triosephosphate isomerase is an amazing enzyme 😱. Here some insights that Belen Calles produced long time ago but could not interpret until recently thanks to the AlphaFold2 wiz & part-time poet Borja Pitarch from Florencio Pazos group doi.org/10.1002/cbic.2… 👇

Amen to this. We need to fight against anti-scientific dogmas from YouTubers, influencers, politicians and tech bros who have an agenda that has little connection to critical thinking or fact-checking.
