I think I saw a Christoph Langhans-style hillslope debris flow track yesterday, with tiny levees. @asinbar gary sheridan see bi-pod for scale. #calwood #minorerosion
Very proud of Tegan Brown for winning the Prince of Wales Award for Sustainable Forestry! 🌲🌿⭐️ apesma.informz.net/informzdataser…
Over in stream 3 we are exploring ecological impacts. gary sheridan ForestHydrologyUnimelb University of Melbourne told #FireClimate2022 how bushfires change the long-term streamflow & water yields in Melbourne’s water catchments.
Third chapter of my PhD is out in Association for Fire Ecology - looking at live fuel moisture content (water + dry mass) in 3 plant functional types in Montana, USA. Enjoyed collaborating with @WMattJolly, Rocky Mountain Research Station & @FCFCMontana on this one! fireecology.springeropen.com/articles/10.11…
Amazing keynote by Elsa Pastor on women in wildfire research. Gender balance is slowly improving but at ~32% there is still a long way to go (as the “manel” at the opening of #icffr exemplified). Perhaps there is the need for an open, safe space to discuss practical next steps.
Great presentations (from an unbiased viewer...) from Tegan Brown on her work about canopy structure on fuel moisture content and gary sheridan presenting @asinbar work on soil co-evolution #ICFFR
