In response to local concerns we have been clearing a public injecting site on derelict land in Calton. Discarded needles safely removed and disposed of, overgrowth cut back and other waste lifted. Needle bins also installed at sites where we know public injecting takes place.

I spoke to BBC about the further roll out of needle bins in Glasgow after the successful pilot in the city centre. This is just one intervention in reducing the harm to local areas where public injecting is happening. We have also carried out deep cleans of known hotspots 1/8

This has been an issue long before The Thistle opened, and only getting figures from January is intentionally misleading. From 2021: glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-w… Sarah Hilley

What Annie and the conservatives have failed to do here is compare the data to previous years when the thistle wasn’t open. In 2023 there was 181 complaints in 24 there was 186 so in actual fact since the thistle has opened there has been a slight reduction in complaints 👇

Today, Glasgow City Council’s City Administration Committee agreed to move forward plans for a Visitor Levy scheme in our city: making sure Glaswegians know that they will see improved services as tourist numbers continue to rise 🛬🚄🎫📸🛌

💷 Your SNP-run Council in Glasgow have just secured plans for a tourist tax which will generate £17mil a year to invest back into Glasgow. What would you spend the money on🤔?

Honoured to join the family of Kory McCrimmon on the march to raise awareness and demand action on knife violence yesterday. So many people showing up in terrible weather to march for two hours shows the strength of feeling. This will be discussed at Full Council on Thursday.

Glasgow’s east end is being transformed - with new jobs, homes and clean energy. 8,000 jobs created. 4,000 homes built. A new hub for high-tech manufacturing and a new district heating scheme on their way. This year, we’re investing £62m in regeneration across Scotland.

This is exactly the kind of investment that Glasgow and the west of Scotland needs to transform our postindustrial communities, where there is so much energy and potential. Great to see John Swinney joining Cllr Greg Hepburn to see all that’s happening in the east end

The achievements of Glasgow's young people is a real success story & one we should shout about. Susan Aitken on how more pupils are doing better in our schools. And some advice on what to do if the results weren't what you'd hoped for.

Glasgow's overnight street cleaning team has doubled in size with 40 new posts added. It's part of a £7m investment in 200 new staff for streets & parks. Quieter streets at night help staff complete vital tasks for maintaining the city. More 👉 ow.ly/lVkx50WHouh

The world's largest image hosting website, Imgur, seemingly blocking the entirety of the UK from its services is a damning indictment of how clumsy and poorly implemented the Online Safety Act is. I can only see other big websites following this approach. What a shambles.

Cycle trips using Glasgow’s active travel network have grown by a massive 43% in the past year as more and more people have the option to choose the bike for everyday journeys using the city’s expanding safer cycle infrastructure network. trib.al/2k2G1xV

Westminster caused this cost of living crisis - and they’re unable and unwilling to fix it. Independence is how we raise your living standards, grow our economy and make Scotland’s energy wealth work for the people who live here.

This isn’t quite accurate Chris McCall. Glasgow City Council doesn’t pay for asylum seeker housing. We do pay for homelessness accommodation & UK Government is creating 1000s more homeless people in Glasgow and across the UK through its policy of evicting new refugees from asylum accommodation

This is a vital 🧵by Mhairi setting out the facts that Scottish Labour MPs are either ignorant of or wilfully lying about. Just 4 weeks ago Glasgow Labour agreed to my Glasgow City Council motion pledging to call out disinformation about asylum seekers & refugees. Where are you, guys?
