So glad me and the University Centre of the Westfjords students got to do an impromptu visit of the flagship of Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, Iceland today! Just a couple months ago many colleagues and students were onboard, sailing the waters of Iceland looking for 🐋 as part of an ecosystem survey.

The Coastal and Marine Ecology class got to tour the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (Hafró)’s main research vessel, the Árni Friðriksson. Dr. James Kennedy, a researcher at Hafró and an instructor for UW’s fisheries management course, gave us the tour. Thank you again!

We have a new paper out today in Current Biology ! 🐬 Our research shows that variation in acoustic communication range, driven by habitat structure, predicts dolphin alliance group sizes!➡️sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Shark Bay Dolphin Research Nat Geo Explorers /1
