In perhaps homage to FF7's strong engagement with Norse mythology, #Tifa's armguards in #FF7Remake are etched with premodern Germanic runes. It appears to be the Elder Futhark alphabet. The writing itself, however, is gibberish and some of the letters are flipped or distorted.

Final Fantasy X's scene of Yuna and Tidus at Lake Macalania was homage to Final Fantasy VII's Temple of the Ancients. (We might speculate the text meant the Forgotten Capital, which features a lake with a similar mysterious ambiance that the characters enter in an iconic scene.)
