Hartlepool College is 175 years old & we have loads of artefacts from down the years. Love this from 2009 focusing on our superb fabrication & welding curriculum & facilities which are still going strong today 😍 One for Paul Smith

Slightly away from FE but for fans of Brutalist Architecture and Noise...My track inspired by Madin's Birmingham Central Library (using a field recording of its demolition) features on this digital compilation from Industrial Coast industrialcoast.bandcamp.com/track/birmingh…

Some haven't liked the term 'decimation' used by Sam Freedman- as he says it is accurate on 16-18 funding. But overall college income drop since 2010 is 3 times worse (30%) & for adults it is 6 times worse (60%). Not sure of the words for that - unbelievable? Criminal? #LoveOurColleges

#MapOnATuesday We recently found this Birmingham city centre map in a City of Birmingham Information Department 1972 Guide to Birmingham. Wonder how many of those buildings still exist in 2024. Reference - LP 83.4 LibraryofBirmingham

Protests were held in London #OnThisDay 2010 in opposition to planned spending cuts to further education and an increase of the cap on tuition fees by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government. The protest involved between 30,000 and 50,000 demonstrators.

For those of us of a certain age, this is a superb evocation of the nature and iniquities of the grammar school system. I was a grammar school boy myself but let's never forget the huge social and educational progress represented by comprehensive schooling bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
