The wisdom in Paul Graham's "do things that don't scale" advice is its awareness of its audience, and the effectiveness is in its messenger. Founders default to things that scale, and sometimes just need "permission" to do the things that don't scale from an authority figure like PG.

Feels like the “OpenAI just wiped out startups in X category” take is too lopsided. Sora can very well expand AI video TAM while taking the burden of educating new audiences, making it easier for other startups like Pika to carve their niche.

noticing a rise in marketing/product copy that uses the stereotypical casual gen-z persona, for example "when i type in lower case nd sound chill n stuff lmao". Could be me aging out of this style of communication, but I predict this will go out of style in the next couple years.

If the geoguessr dudes can pinpoint locations just based on context clues in one photo, then there’s no reason ai wouldnt be able to do the same via image recognition. Therefore it may be a safe assumption that location can already be deduced for most photos that we upload
