Yes. Jesus’ ministry was NOT about salvation from discomfort or poverty but about salvation from sin. His focus was on eternal life and inner renewal, NOT material success. The New Testament model of discipleship is bearing Jesus’ cross, NOT seeking earthly comfort or wealth.

ā€œJesus didn’t just die to get us to Heaven. He died to bring Heaven’s will into our lives on earth.ā€ This is straight up unbiblical hogwash. His death wasn’t about earthly comfort or prosperity. He didn’t promise anyone a life of material success. Most of his disciples died poor

It is extremely unethical and exploitative to preach prosperity as a sign of god’s blessings in a country where the majority of people are poor by no fault of theirs. You are taking advantage of their desperation and giving them a lifetime of guilt and unworthiness. It is evil.

1-8 were about a man who knew he was about to be fired so he cleverly reduced his master’s debtors’ bills so they welcome him later. Jesus was saying to use your temporary, earthly resources to show acts of generosity, mercy and compassion that reflect the eternal kingdom of god.
