Science club goes fruit mad! Today we investigated how citric acid in fruits allows the conduction of electricity. Our investigation found that zinc and carbon electrodes recorded the highest voltage so we used them to test which fruit had greater conductivity. Banana for the win

Making our own indicators to test for acid and alkalis in Science club this week. We used flowers and different types of foods and extracted their dyes to see how they changed colour. Developed excellent scientific skills tonight! Sean Castle

Science club tonight focused on physics and light rays! We created our own pinhole cameras and learnt that the image appears ‘inverted’ as the number of light rays entering the camera is reduced Sean Castle

Science club focussed on extracting metals. Students learnt about how carbon is used to extract metals from the ore. Excellent Bunsen burner skills too!

Today in Science Club, students scrambled to design the perfect parachute to keep their eggs from cracking! Some designs were egg-straordinary, while others had a shell of a time (no yolks!). A truly egg-citing experiment! no action shots- too busy having fun!

🧪 At Science Club this week, we got fizzy with fun! We made our own bath bombs & bath salts 💣🛁 Did you know? The fizz in bath bombs comes from an acid-base reaction between citric acid & baking soda. Chemistry has never smelled so good!

🧪 Today in science club, we extracted DNA from strawberries! 🍓 It was slimy, stringy — and totally awesome to see what makes up living things. 💡Fun fact: If you stretched out all the DNA in your body, it would reach from the Earth to the Sun 100 times! ☀️🌍

Our science lit up the room this week! Our brilliant year 7 and 8 made their own LED torches and sparked some serious learning about how electricity flows. Watt a great session!

Today in Science Club, we made ice cream using ice and salt! 🧪❄️ The salt lowers the freezing point of ice, making it cold enough to freeze the ice cream mixture.

Today in Science Club, things got egg-citing! We learned all about duck eggs and how to incubate them. Stay tuned—soon we’ll be welcoming some fluffy new quackademics into the world!

🦆🥚 Today our science club cracked on with checking the incubated duck eggs — and we’re egg-cited to report that 8 out of 10 have developed! Fingers crossed these little embryos keep quacking on! 🐣

🐣 🦆 Big news from the Science Club incubator — 3 ducklings have hatched! Meet Timmy, Donald, and Eggliot (a.k.a. Eggy).

Our ducklings are growing up quack-ly! 🐣🐥 Today, students took them out for a waddle on the field to explore the great outdoors. Science is egg-stra adorable sometimes! 🦆

Can’t believe it’s our last science club of the year — and the last one with our little ducklings! 🐥 They’ve grown so fast and gotten so cheeky… it’s been such a joy watching them waddle into their curious (and mischievous) selves.
