Spot on (as always) by Simon Lester - defining beggar-thy-neighbour policies creates more problems than it solves, the concept of protectionism is key. Francesco Clora and I took the same view in our analysis of trade-distorting and protectionist/discriminatory IRA subsidies in Journal of International Economic Law
