Just Finished Watching: "Gladiator II" A sequel that came out a bit too late, but is still a worthy-enough continuation of Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning epic, thanks to strong acting and action. As for the "Glicked" debate? I prefer "Wicked: Part 1" easily.

...Well, at least it's not another "Blood & Honey" movie. And it still looks better animated than anything else I've seen that's generated AI. But, still....yeeaaaaah, poor A.A. Milne's work is really getting stepped upon here. youtube.com/watch?v=NNutKZ…

Just Finished Watching: "Remember the Titans" Years before they ever gave us "Zootopia," Disney delivers an effective sports drama that explores the subject of prejudice, carried greatly by powerful storytelling and performances, particularly Denzel Washington's.

Just Finished Watching: "Good Will Hunting" A relatively good movie with a good story that thankfully is elevated by the performance of Robin Williams, which only makes me miss him all the more.

Just Finished Watching: "Tombstone" It starts off rather slow, but keeps building up to an amazing last third. That along with its classic Western filmmaking style, some of its themes, and the performances (particularly Kurt Russel) make it the Western classic it is known as.

Just because I prefer "The Wild Robot" more doesn't mean this win wasn't deserved. Congratulations to the team behind "Flow" for winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature!

And here I thought the first new release of the year that I’d be seeing in theaters would be the A24 film with Paul Rudd and killer unicorns.

Wherever I wander Where I roam I couldn't be fonder of this charming little piece of childhood. What this Disney classic lacks in faithfulness to its source material, it makes up for in pure likability. blog88419.wordpress.com/2025/04/06/the…

Just Finished Watching: "Heat (1995)" Partially in memory of Val Kilmer and partially in preparation to hear the editor speak Wednesday night. A bit complicated to follow at times, and dang, is it long. But the tense pacing and the powerful performances greatly make up for it.

Happy Children's Book Week! This week, pick up a classic work of children's literature, be it picture book or young reader's novel, read it to your child, and bring them into a world of timeless imagination.

Just Finished Watching: "Legend - Director's Cut (1985)" Despite some noticeable pacing and storytelling issues, Ridley Scott's fantasy cult classic greatly makes up for it with Jerry Goldsmith's score, some good themes and ideas, and many gorgeous, atmospheric visuals.

This joke wasn't funny the first time I saw the movie, and it still isn't funny now. This film is gonna become a bit more dated than I feel some people give it credit for.

(sigh) PLEASE, don't mess this up and miss the point of the original book and story entirely. You'd expect, after directing "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle," Serkis would give us something very dark and gritty in one of the most famous allegories of all time.
