Never mind the wine trade being in for a terrible time, Daniel. Think of the poor UK wine consumer: 60% of a £7 bottle of wine at 13.5% vol will be UK tax from 1 February.

Wine is going to cost more. Your pint is going to cost more (1p off, increases in business rates, the minimum wage and employer NICs all added on). Yet you know what? The HM Treasury actually KNOW that this will mean tax receipts from alcohol will go down. This is deranged.
