As a family lawyer, I’ve seen how abusers harm or threaten family pets as a twisted way to control and terrorise their partners. Yet in the family courts, this form of coercive control is too often minimised or ignored entirely. It’s time professionals took this seriously.

Shocked at work today to hear an educated woman in a caring profession claim, "I hate men." If she'd hated a certain ethnic group or sexual orientation that would have been seen as #HateSpeech. Because she hated men in front of a room full of women, no one batted an eyelid.

Great to know that under VAWG, violence by women against men and boys is listed in stats for ....VAWG! Plus the embedded DV agencies among councils will only help female 'survivors.' Male callers are 'screened.' So much for equality in the UK!

I've started using #googlekeep to share photos of my son's childhood with him. I don't know if he uses it but I add him as a collaborator on all my posts I would like him to see. I hope he finds them and they make him #smile.

I've completed iHV training in #domesticviolenceandabuse today. It is high standard training - but with one glaring gap - no recognition of #coercivecontrol of children.

Today I completed training on the difference between domestic abuse and parental conflict. Great training but missing a key component: the #coercivecontrol of children.

I’ve never undertaken any training, in 20 years of #schoolnursing, that covered #coercivecontrol of children. This has to change. Children are damaged when their #livedexperiences are ignored. #Trauma

It is imperative that #safeguarding trainers #skillup on #childpsychologicalabuse and start sharing it with professionals.

Unbelievable these misogynistic views are being shared. I'm not biased, I'd call out misandry too. ALL men are not great or awful and neither are ALL women. We all need to treat each other much better.
