All Evanston swimming beaches are closed at this time due to a water investigation. Please be aware that there is a heavy fire and police presence at Lee Street Beach, Dempster Street Beach, and Church Street Beach. Stay tuned for further information and updates.

Evanston Police and Evanston Fire Department Personnel are at Lighthouse Beach. 2 swimmers were rescued but one swimmer is unaccounted for. There is a heavy police and fire presence in the area lighthouse Beach is now closed. Please avoid the area.

The Chicago Fire Department helicopter is on scene and the Evanston Fire Department has deployed a drone.

Additional search and rescue resources are staging at the Church Street Boat Ramp. Avoid the area.

The operation to locate the missing swimmer has concluded for the night. The swimmer has not been located. Evanston Fire will resume their efforts tomorrow.

At 10:10 am, a work crew struck a gas line on the 2600 block of Lawndale Ave., causing a leak and an odor. There is no danger to the public. Nicor and the Fire Department are on the scene. Repairs may take a few hours. Lawndale is closed between Hartzell and Park. Avoid the area.
