created a usd asset using the component builder, figured out how to multiple materials for different parts of the ship as well as material variants. #houdini

quick test I did with the new pyro thruster sop in #houdini. TBH I didn't really like the results I was able to get and I would probably do my own setup if I was working on a shot like this.

here is the final result of the sim I did using COP pyro. (karma xpu/nuke). even at this resolution the sim was way faster than standard pyro. #houdini #sidefx

More tests with the feather nodes in houdini. Instead of creating feathers, I keep the proxies and uv them and add leaf textures. #houdini

I had the opportunity to work on #PrimitiveWar . I worked on the feather/fur sim rigs for multiple dinos (and a few other things). These two slow-motion shots are really cool and I am glad to have them in my reel. #houdini #sidefx

been updating a wedge hda I started a while back. uses imagemagick to overlay wedge/frame information and also to create the contact sheet. #houdini

It's possible to convert ptex into image textures in COPs in #houdini For ptex to work, you need the primnum and the parametric uvs. Parametric uvs are calculated differently at SOP level vs at rendertime. ptex expects the render style parametric uvs, so you must convert.

Improving at rigging with APEX/kinefx. You can procedurally store data on the geometry that controls functionality, so it is easy to add more parts to the rig and everything just works. #houdini

In APEX and kinefx you can setup procedural rigs. Look how I can modify one of the inputs and the changes propagate down the node tree and it works almost instantly. #sidefx #houdini

Here is the render of my heart APEX rig. Going to make the hip file available for free. Sadly I cannot include everything because I used some assets that I don't own the rights to distribute. #houdini #sidefx

Here is the process/breakdown of the heart rig. I made it available to download for free in case anyone wants to mess around with it. patreon.com/posts/apex-hea… #houdini #sidefx

I was trying to figure out something about cycling mocap in #houdini. The ai overview from google was using information from my own tutorial. This is not good, lol
