The arrival of devastating seismic waves from the Morrocco Earthquake to Gairloch High School's Raspberry Shake situated at Gairloch Museum last night. 5.5mins to travel from Marrakesh to the N of Scotland. Our S3 class has been learning about the science behind these waves this week π
Geog teachers π are working hard to make sure every pupil in π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ has powerful knowledge to help play their part in sustainability, communities & workplaces. Great to be asked to speak alongside Louise Hayward Ken Muir on what educational reform could mean in the π classroom.
Embedding young folk in the area they're growing up in - local places, local songs & yellow wellies to boot πͺ Some Gairloch High School S1s with their impromptu singing of Loch Maree Islands today πΆ think we've got PEAT & DIESEL to thank for helping us keep that classic alive!
Today our Nat 5 Geography classroom looked like this π± Learning about how rural businesses develop, farming can be a driver for carbon reduction & hungry families can be fed. A real reminder how many vital jobs in π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ are underpinned by the principles they learn in π classes!
From Gairloch High School to Antarctica via the UK Polar Network! S1 have been learning about the Antarctic Treaty and what makes the continent a special place βοΈπ§ They designed this flag combining lots of ideas from across the class & the next time they see it it will be in Antarctica!
π We're at #MockCOPHighlands in the The Highland Council chambers today with Geog and @poweringfutures pupils from Gairloch High School We are representing Ethiopia πͺπΉ and highlighting some of the amazing green energy produced in the country!
Long trip down to the Scottish Parliament today for a meeting with @JennyGilruth, Cabinet Secretary for Education, who heard our ambitions for Geography π pupils & teachers in Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ The SAGTeach president's role comes with lots of meetings & it's refreshing to be heard!
First run of the @poweringfutures presentation for the Gairloch High School team this afternoon with @GairlochAHT and Stuart Skills Development Scotland giving feedback. Final presentations are next Thursday π€©πͺ
James & Darren from BEAR NW Trunk Roads Bridges team were at Gairloch High School today. First they gave valuable industry feedback to our Powering Futures group and then delivered a civil engineering & pathways workshop to the team & our Higher Engineering pupils. Thanks for contributing!
