One benefit of the later season in the North East is that our first substantial pick & pressing has timed itself perfectly for the start of Lockdown 2.0!

First runnings from our new Hydropress - so much easier than the tiny screw handle basket press! About 100L so far from 6 presses over two days, which would previously have taken weeks! Washing apples is the limiting factor at the moment...

The club have donated the most of the apples 🍎 grown at the Hazard, to the ElvetCider to turn into lovely cider 🍺. The rest were left for the wildlife 🐦

Very refreshing and naturally tasting, not sweet, light fizz more like a robust natural sparkling white wine tbh…. Perhaps more for those with a “grown up”palate 😅🥂

I must give a huge shout-out to the brilliant ElvetCider. This is seriously good cider made with local apples from the North East, all grown in County Durham. This week's cider festival at The Station House is the launch of their 2022 vintage and it is a sensational cider!
