“It’s vital that the government acts to ensure all parents understand their right to wait until compulsory school age before their child starts school.” @PaulineMHull #summerborn independent.co.uk/news/education…

Nov 2020 - a ‘Middlemarch’ kind of month ‘for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs’

Cab ride across London during extra time - pubs exploding, horns sounding. For an England team who took the knee, wear rainbow armbands, campaign against child poverty. It feels like a cultural game-changer on the same scale as The Beatles.

A couple of weeks ago I talked about how hard it can be when you are an SEN parent and you feel like you’re disappearing especially when professionals call you “Mum” - so to match the #HelloMyNameIs campaign here’s one for parents!! #nhs #SEN

Recent media reports have claimed four of our amazing schools are not allowing the words 'mum' and 'dad' to be used. Please don't believe these reports. They are utter nonsense and totally untrue. Find out more at ow.ly/YsE150I1xkV

@MrsRBurnell Robin Walker @nadine On 31 March 2022 Robin Walker stated "Any change allowing the parents of summer born children the automatic right to delay their child’s entry to reception, and for the child to remain with that cohort throughout their education, would require primary legislation." 1/2

@MrsRBurnell Robin Walker @nadine Surely, this should be specifically mentioned in the 'Schools Bill' and is the perfect 'legislative opportunity' that the DfE constantly refers to as being needed, especially given that ministers have for the last 7 years stated that they are "committed to legislating" 2/2

We ALREADY have the right to ‘delay’ school. CSAge is CSAge. It’s whether or not a reception or Y1 start at that point is agreed. This is where the birth/postcode lottery is inconsistent up and down the country, often with individual schools making decisions #summerborn

Whilst David Laws was Schools Minister, he did something unprecedented. He enabled an interface between parents of #summerborn and DfE civil servants so that the DfE be made aware of all the problems in the system and also best practice. Now, no one at the DfE is listening.
