My daughter and I were able to get her tag filled harvesting this beautiful billy. She had to earn this climbing and traversing some nasty terrain, and in the end came away with one amazing achievement.

What's that sound? September is when rut starts for most elk in North America. Bull elk bugle to attract cows or let other males know how big and strong they are. It can sound eerie but is an iconic sound in places where elk are found. 📸: Kenny Seals at Wichita Mountains

Happy Independence Day to Chile 🇨🇱 The place that shaped me, taught me, and gave me the roots that carried me to the US. I wish I were there… no one celebrates independence like Chile does.

Blue grosbeaks are summer visitors across the central and southern U.S. Males sing their songs from high perches, flashing their brilliant blue. Females stay camouflaged while raising up to two broods each year in hidden, shrub-covered nests. Photo: Roy Freese
