At tonight’s BlackHistoryWindsor meeting Willow Key gave a fantastic presentation about the history of the McDougall Street Corridor & urban redevelopment that pushed out residents. We also saw a preview of the walking tour & digital exhibit that has been developed to share this history.

On this day, March 24, 1853, Mary Ann Shadd (later Cary) launched the Provincial Freeman in Windsor, becoming the first Canadian woman and first African North American woman to publish and edit a newspaper. Local events to celebrate this date and her 200th birthday have begun!
