I had forgotten this. Not just best in Canada, AHS, was one of the top 5 in the WORLD! This was not ranked by amateurs or home schooled know-it-alls, but by professionals. AHS was world leading - and it is now being torn apart by barbarians. We should be ashamed.

This week in the ICU I have resuscitated a mother of two, a management consultant, an honour role student and a homeless man. The first three were victims of a poisoned opiate supply, the last had pneumonia. Alberta has a serious problem, and a government that has demonized it.

I remember being in absolute awe of Dr. Yiu recounting the massive effort of AHS during the pandemic response for Grand Rounds in November 2022. People try to rewrite history but I absolutely commend her and AHS for their heroic efforts. She is gone and AHS gutted for what??

Acute care is not OK. It will only get worse as virus season hits. I’m worried about how we are going to continue to serve our patients and take care of ourselves. No one is acting on our proposed solutions. Decisions makers are turning a blind eye to just how dire things are. /5
