The level of inequality in today’s world is unconscionable. I’m convinced that a time will come when people, looking back at today’s world, will be shocked that we tolerated this kind of inequality, the same way that we are shocked that our ancestors tolerated slavery & serfdom.

Doomed are societies in which people, after hearing about Pythagoras’ theorem, want to know Pythagoras’ political party affiliation in order to decide whether the theorem is correct.

"I have had to work like a slave, and slave like a gardener. But what does it matter if one succeeds?" - Vincent Van Gogh. A fortnight in the States, as I start my PhD journey at UMass Amherst, makes me feel on similar lines. Probably this is what a "dream deferred" looks like.

Durga Pujo is an industry which sustains a lot of artisans, traders, craftsmen, labourers etc. So unless these groups themselves decide to boycott Pujo, it's not for the privileged to decide whether Pujo should be conducted or not.
