One of the best parts of coaching is getting to have your kids be around the team and the game all the time. Hayden loves practices, games and team meals! Raiders #1 fan πŸ€πŸ’™

β€œElite competitors compete consistently and for longer periods of time than average competitors. They don’t turn it on and off. They compete in everything they do, not just game time.” -Kenny Atkinson

I agree! If HS coaches are getting judged and held accountable for W/L record then should be paid for the amount of time we put in. Most non-coaches have zero clue on the amount of time required

When it comes to improvement consistency trumps intensity. 1% better every day. Especially on the days you don’t feel like showing up

Yes and this can definitely be applied to πŸ€ or any sport. I think a lot of kids give up sports early because they don’t experience success when they start and/or games start too soon. Youth basketball should play 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 and on low rims until 5th or 6th grade IMO

There is such a β€œcool guy” mentality happening throughout every program. Some more and some less. Example: kid wears Modelo Hat and Budweiser T-shirt to morning lifts. Real athletes don’t wear that, brother! Time to make a decision; either you’re a real one or you’re not!

β€œDon’t waste a day.” It’s the little things done right and done repeatedly over a long period of time that add up to big results.

Good reminder for players and coaches from Urban Meyer with fall sports starting Monday: You will play like you practice. You can’t practice on autopilot and play with purpose. How you compete in practice will determine how you compete in games.

The people who succeed aren’t the ones who avoid failure - they’re the ones who learn how to respond to failure with optimism. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and improve.
