🪡 Wonderful evening celebrating Dundee’s rich tapestry V&A Dundee last night. The community-created The Dundee Tapestry exhibit features 35 stunning panels stitched by 140+ volunteers - mainly women - showcasing the spirit of the city, its history and its people in vibrant detail.

🧵 It was great fun spotting local icons, landmarks and industries - there's also lots to learn and hidden gems along the way. Congratulations to John Fyffe MBE, Andrew Crummy, Frances and all the stitchers for weaving their magic on the textiles that everyone will now enjoy.

On Friday (19th Jan), the Lord Provost held a Civic Reception at the V&A Dundee for the launch of the Dundee Tapestry. A large attendance heard an opening speech by Leonie Bell (Director of the V&A Dundee) followed by three musical pieces by the Wighton Singers.

We are excited to see that the The Dundee Tapestry, another Tapestry by Andrew Crummy, is on display in the V&A Dundee until Sunday 28 April.

Dundee features in a few of the Great Tapestry panels, including the RSS Discovery, Discovery Point, The Verdant Works Museum and The The McManus but we are excited to see the full The Dundee Tapestry

Enjoyed a visit to V&A Dundee at the weekend. Two great exhibitions on just now: The Fashion Show and The Dundee Tapestry. The tapestries tell a wonderful story of Dundee, the birthplace of my Grandpa Broon (no, seriously) and my Dad.

Today would have been dad's 82nd birthday. Sadly he only made it to 58. But he lives on through his music and I was delighted to visit the fantastic The Dundee Tapestry recently to see his name alongside his friend and collaborator Jim Reid and many other local luminaries ❤️
