Having watched the first episode of #Nightsleeper I will probably stick with it because, well, it’s got trains in it. But if you’re fortunate enough not to have seen it yet, be under no illusion: the script is as bad as the plot, and the plot is utter tosh.

So, having now watched all of #Nightsleeper, I’d say the script improved after a clunky opening and there was a decent plot twist at the end but, from a railway perspective, the scenario remained completely preposterous to the last.

Credit to Andrew Marr for accepting that he was in the wrong here and apologising. But that fact that his original comments drew applause from a Labour audience reflects badly on the party and shouldn’t be forgotten.

The maddest thing about this piece in The Spectator is how it ends with the writer talking to an in-comer who is at ease with Welsh pronunciation, welcomes the new property rules and says they are working - thus illustrating what a pile of rubbish the rest of the article is.

Is the Conservative Party which is complaining about the effects of a loophole being exploited the same Conservative Party which opposed the measure designed to close the loophole?
