Fantastic to see the Women in Computing event at St George's School, Edinburgh run again & going from strength to strength! CS has the largest gender gap compared to other traditional STEM subjects & has done for over a decade. Brilliant to see ScotGov Education being part of the event.

It's really great to see this. Well done. Yet we cannot forget that CS at schools compared to traditional STEM subjects has the worst uptake, largest gender gap, least amount of teachers, least places to train, lowest num in ITE & not yet core subject. #SaveComputingScience

CS in Scotland has the biggest gender gap in STEM for over a decade! Fantastic to see initiatives like Next Tech Girls offering amazing work experience. Be great to see more Scottish tech companies get involved and create more opportunities for pupils in Scotland.

“If you intersect the different aspects—the fall in recruitment, the demographic time bomb, the fact that a lot of departments have one computing science teacher, which makes them very vulnerable, and so on—I think that it is fair to say that we are in difficulty.”

Transport barriers often create a disadvantage for small departments like Computing Science, as they prevent pupils from attending events & accessing enriching experiences that can cause lasting ripples for those pupils who are fortunate enough to attend. gofundme.com/f/get-the-bubb…
