I’ve been discussing legendary Scottish rock’n’roller Alex Harvey today and noted that he would’ve been 90 years old earlier this year. Just a month younger than Elvis Presley. Wow!

There you go AA. I’ve fixed the message on your mail shot for you. If you’d given me a reasonable quote back in July I might’ve stayed. Too late now though.

Ah, Newcastle. I’ve missed ye! A couple of days hooking up with No.1 son commences and the Free Trade Inn is without a shadow of doubt the best place to start.

Early afternoon spent in Tynemouth and Whitley Bay. Sunny but a bit blowy. Causeway to lighthouse sadly underwater until 7pm so no exploring today. Now back in the excellent Low Lights Tavern, North Shields for a nice pint of Bass.

The Central Bar, Gateshead. Been on my pub bucket list for a few years. Reminds me of New York’s “Flat Iron” building. It’s pretty decent inside too.

I don’t mind using Travelodge UK. It’s a relatively cheap way to get your head down for a night or two but although I don’t ever expect a great view, a window covered in bird crap isn’t really acceptable. Do Newcastle Central ever wash their windows? This was room No.37 btw.

Hello Travelodge UK. There appear to be multiple X accounts claiming to be representatives of your Customer Service team asking for people’s phone numbers and other information. Do you actually have a genuine account which is active and monitored?

Another day of hospital appointments. Not me this time though. I was here on Wednesday. Today it’s Mrs $linger getting physio and x-rays after falling in her work’s car park a fortnight ago due to a pothole. I’m her designated driver. Waiting room is much busier than it looks.

RIP Gilson Lavis. One of the first *proper pro drummers* I ever saw live back in early 1978 when Squeeze supported Eddie and the Hot Rods at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall. It was immediately apparent that he was very, very good indeed. He wore a sweat shirt with “Squeeze Drummer” on it.
