A true leader of Texas would say “when legislation is passed to properly fund our public schools to give all 5.4million students quality education at the hands of our professional teachers.” But no, we have Greg Abbott & Dan Patrick squabbling & wasting time.

I would point the commissioner to our academic results—our kids are performing above 2019 levels. ESSER funds were to help mitigate learning loss, and the results show that. We consistently receive top financial accountability ratings. No mismanagement here.
