Found out a dear friend and colleague with lung cancer just passed away. Even being in this field, it’s still difficult and hard to realize that he is gone. Our research mission goes on, but what we are doing… it’s not enough. Sadly, I know it’s not enough.

Dr. Biden gave an impassioned speech calling upon the cancer community to bring cancer screening to all Americans ⁦First Lady Melania Trump⁩ #CancerMoonshot. Let’s do it!

I encourage young scientists to apply for this important fellowship. Racial diversity among scientists is a critical component required to defeat cancer.

Dr. Anirban Maitra gave a terrific talk on early detection in pancreatic cancer at the JCA-AACR Pancreatic Cancer meeting in Kyoto. He discussed work of multi center teams that he leads. Great progress! This is a critical area of pancreatic cancer research!

The problem is lack of diversity among those nominating and voting. The Nobel Committee can fix this problem. Many other Academies require an increase in nominated women and people of color. With this increase comes the realization of the amazing scientists in these groups.
