"Speaking in a series of three lectures run by West Australian Catholic institution, the University of Notre Dame, Bennett tells his audience he has no intention of ‘bashing’ the teacher training sector". Then WHY are you doing it? WHERE's the #research? educationhq.com/news/enormous-…

For as long as I can remember, almost every PISA report for Australia says the gap between our most advantaged children and our least advantaged children is one of the worst in the OECD. And yet we continue to overfund private schools and underfund public schools. I don’t get it.

Just heard today that my son, who has Down syndrome, was selected by peers and staff to be a Year 9 Ambassador (a student leadership role) at his high school 🫶 #ProudToBePublic We❤️ #InclusiveEducation

Bennett knows that urging more AP investment from the next government he stirs things up a bit. Creating education provision to meet all needs is vital but his assertion that the challenges in mainstream are best met by reducing the need for effective inclusive schools is flawed.

Since coming into power Tories have messed on with and seriously messed up initial teacher education and therefore scuppered teacher recruitment. Most children will now be negatively impacted by this. And if not it’ll be poor teacher retention under the Tories that hits hard.

The federal government has spent $77.5 million over nine years on a non-profit [Teach for Australia] to educate new teachers, but only 474 are still teaching in schools.  That’s a taxpayer cost of about $163,502 per teacher. 🤦‍♀️ crikey.com.au/2024/06/07/tea…

The Australian government's response to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation allocated no additional funding for inclusive education despite professing to embrace a vision for an inclusive Australia ... and now this. Really?!

The recent ResearchEd conference included a post about "interuptions" in the classroom. As I have a suspicion that ResearchEd isn't particulary research-led I was prompted to write an article titled "How ResearchEd gets it wrong". You can read it here: teaching-maths.com/how-resed-gets…
