I doubt real AGI in computers will occur. It would require some overarching motivation and purpose of its own rather than programming. Consciousness provides that with feelings which gives purpose and drives behavior. ASI maybe, but without AGI or consciousness, so what?

Turned out to be great discussion, from translating academic research into policy changes to using AI chatbots to facilitate convos with conspiracy theorists. However it didn’t go unnoticed that the top voted poll question went unanswered: “Why can’t we vote online?” #Vote

Not long ago, most AI experts knew for a fact that neural networks were a failed avenue. Even as late as 2014, many of the top researchers in computer vision were saying that deep learning might be just a temporary fad.

Your body is your brain. 🧠 Glad to see more evidence on this form of learning and memory. Perhaps this will lead to further validation and different takes on how to implement embodied intelligence.

NSF makes you say who you got conflicts (coauthored) with. We (really just Jordan Matelsky @jordan.matelsky.com on bsky ) just built you a tool for that. Literally one click (on top of revealing your name): bib.experiments.kordinglab.com/nsf-coa - one of the most useful tools the lab ever built.
