Recognition of aHUS in the postpartum period is critical, because left untreated it may progress to end-stage kidney disease, dialysis, and renal transplant. The best treatment for aHUS is complement blockade, which improves long-term kidney function and decreases mortality.

In our study of HELLP cases compared with aHUS cases in the postpartum period, we found that the optimal cut points to diagnosis aHUS were: - Cr 1.9 mg/dl or greater - LDH 1832 U/L or greater - Cr 1.9 mg/dl + LDH 600 U/L in combination Graphical Abstract 👇👇👇
