I'm completely in favour of LEZs, but I can't help feeling that the The City of Edinburgh Council proposal has a major flaw. The roads on the south-east corner of the zone (which are excluded from the LEZ itself) run round 2 sides of the Preston Street Primary School playground (X marks the spot in the map).
