Our Griffith Science & Environment #2305ENV #MarineMegafaunaPlanetaryHealth #students enjoyed the annual shearwater dissection for #Plastic gut content analysis. A whole fish in one stomach made for trickier analysis!

We conducted 1st circum-#Antarctic investigation of #HumpbackWhale #diet and found that whilst signals were unique among populations, they all pointed to Antarctic krill revealing that krill may like variety but whales do not! 🐳 🇦🇶 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Did you know that Antarctic minke whales sometimes synchronize their feeding? I led a new paper in collaboration with Griffith University and UC Santa Cruz showing just that! Check it out below :) link.springer.com/article/10.100…

A #ProudSupervisorPost. Both of these wonderful humans started their field and lab intensive #PhDs at the start of the COVID pandemic. Both landed in Australia as the country went into lock-down. Their success is a credit to their spirit and determination🐳

Our Griffith University #MarineScienceBSc students performed seabird dissections as part of their #2305ENVMarineMegafauna class last week. 1 of 9 gannets necropsied had identifiable plastic in their stomachs. Thanks to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital for supply of birds.
