Loved listening to former umpire Larry Young at the Dubuque Baseball Classic on Saturday. He said umpiring is the only job where you’re expected to start out perfect and then get better

More from Larry Young: He debuted in the Midwest League in 1978 and recalled that when a ball was thrown out of play, old Cedar Rapids GM Bucky Showalter would have his kids go over it with an eraser, then dip it in milk and try to sneak it back into a game

Bears have not taken a defensive player in the entire NFL draft so I'm thinking they'll go DE or DT with their last pick. Instead they take ... Tory Taylor. I love it.

Iowa's Tory Taylor is the highest drafted punter in the NFL draft since Bryan Anger went in the third round in 2012

Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com came out with his list of the top 100 players in the NFL and there are 5 ex-Hawkeyes on it: Tristan Wirfs is 24th, George Kittle 37th, Sam LaPorta 58th, T.J. Hockenson 67th and Tyler Linderbaum 100th.

Tuned in to watch the Cubs in the bottom of the first inning today and instead they seemingly are airing reruns of The Twilight Zone, starring Hayden Wesneski

So ... which Cubs position players are going to get to pitch in this first game of doubleheader today? Bote? Wisdom? Mastro?

Unfortunately, it looks like Noah Lyles is out of the 4x100 finals. The good news is that Rock Island's Courtney Lindsey seems likely to take his place

Classic Kirk Ferentz. Troy takes the lead and Iowa just runs out the clock with a timeout remaining and minute to go in the half. Fans booing and you can tell the players on the field hated the decision, too.

Worst call of the season? Trying to hand off to your third-string center at the goal line when you have a chance to score the go-ahead TD

Don Doxsie (@dox5) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Maybe the most unbelievable loss in Bears history. I was yelling for them to call one of their 3 timeouts before the Hail Mary so everyone knew what they were doing
