Our S3 biology classes have been trying out their creative skills while learning about the structure of DNA and the process of genetic engineering this month! 🧬🦠

S2 Science pupils have been getting hands-on in S2 Science this past month whilst learning about how white blood cells fight infection in a specific manner using antibodies! 🦠🧫💉

Last month, we held a STEM transition day. The P7’s were asked to design a selection of mini monsters using an idea generation technique called ‘morphological analysis’. They all showed great enthusiasm, creativity, sketching & presentation skills. Great work 👹😈🤡 Douglas Academy

S1 Science pupils have been enjoying learning about renewable energy sources lately. We carried out some fun wind turbine investigations to further our scientific skills too! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬💨

After learning about cancer in lessons, Katie from The Beatson Cancer Charity visited our S3 biologists to share the charity’s role and the support offered to people. Our S3 classes are currently planning some fundraising activities to support their work in the coming months!💛🐝

Some of our S5/6 Biologists got to visit The Beatson Institute as part of the CRUK doors open events this March. They learnt about about the roles played by those who work there, their journey into research as a career, what current research looks like, and had a lab tour!🥼🔬🧫

Fantastic day today with Craigdhu Primary School CloberPrimary Baldernock Primary School and Milngavie Primary School! Students had the opportunity to compete in different maths challenges including building a raft!

Our S3 Biology classes have been fundraising for the Beatson Cancer Charity and have raised a total of £160.33! We have had class competitions including rounders and football as well as guess the number of sweets in the jar. Well done S3 Biologists! 💛
