Tough one for Jake Knapp. Tied for the lead early, now at best loses a tiebreak (OWGR) with Matt Schmid for final spot at Royal Portrush. So he does to Tahoe instead.

Nihilist Scottie Scheffler made his triumphant return today, a welcome surprise. Every once in a while, Scheffler, one of pro sport’s most unexplored mega-stars, lets this out — his most insular side, the side that asks, “What’s the point?” My story — nytimes.com/athletic/64956…

Left rough off the first tee but Rory, but well short of those silly white stakes to the left. I really think he can get down in six shots from there and beat his score the last time.

Assuming they started on time, Bryson's group just finished 18 holes in 5 hours, 56 minutes. Other groups are about that range. Pretty sure they don't stop for tea.

Not a huge gallery with Scottie. I’m guessing everyone left early today to get a good seat at the parade? Or maybe watching someone else?

3-2-1 ... deeply saddened to hear the passing of Bob Bubka, an unforgettable radio voice. There will be laughter thinking about him and hearing that Long Island voice. Legend.

Among my favorites is Bubka listening to the TV interview, ending with Furyk wishing his daughter a happy birthday. Bubka goes next. "Jim, understand there's a big birthday in the Furyk household. Any message for young Caleigh?" Furyk replied, "She doesn't listen to the radio."

Scottie's reaction to that par putt on No. 6 was eerily similar to Tiger's on the 16th at Pebble when he won the US Open. Scottie now 31 consecutive holes without a bogey.

Bryson: "I hope to continue to do it just like Arnold Palmer did, walking in his footsteps and move the game kind of like he did." I'd have to go back and check, but pretty sure Arnold didn't sue his tour.

*PGA Tour only. Lee Westwood beat him in the 2000 Deutsche Bank-SAP Open in Germany. I have Tiger worldwide at 30 in a row. Which, you know, is still pretty good.

Scottie joining Jack, Gary and Tiger as only players under 30 with Masters, PGA and Open is one of those fabricated stats. Rory left out because he won US Open but not Masters? And if Masters matters, do you ignore Spieth winning Masters, Open and US Open?

AirPod lady is hilarious. When hubs sends photo of traffic at @lax arrivals, she calls it “a photo of a group of cars 🚗 under a night sky 🌌 “ 😂 that’s one way to put an LAX traffic jam

Don't know if this is an OWGR record, but Justin Leonard moved up 3,253 spots with his T59 at Royal Portrush. Now at No. 1,436 ... and he's ranked ahead of Tiger for the first time since the start of 1997.

And Lee Westwood jumped 3759 spots (from #4689 to #930) following his T34 finish at #TheOpen. Neither of these two jumps is a record. The record still belongs to Nick Dunlap... #OWGR
